This morning we Thor: The Dark World and now Variety reveals so will Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander and Rene Russo, but behind that they announce Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (“Lost”) will play one of the film’s lead villains playing the dual roles of Algrim the Strong and Kurse.
Who are these guys? Well, since I don’t know I’ll defer to Variety‘s Dave McNary who says Algrim the Strong was the most powerful of a race of Dark Elves, who is coerced by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) to fight Thor. After he’s betrayed by Malekith and injured during a battle, Algrim is healed and transformed into a much more powerful being called Kurse, who is twice as a strong as Thor. You can get more on Kurse here.
Twice as strong you say? Well that’s pretty strong.
Chris Hemsworth returns in the title role along with Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgaard and Tom Hiddleston as shooting on the sequel is taking place in London under the direction of Alan Taylor with the film targeting a November 8, 2013. Zachary Levi and Alice Krige also star. [Variety]
