Chris Hemsworth Will Battle the Bots in Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’

Chris Hemsworth‘s star continues to rise as he’s landed a major new role as the leading man in Steven Spielberg‘s Robopocalypse, based on Daniel H. Wilson‘s book of the same name exploring the fate of the human race following a robot uprising.

I have read this book and while I like Hemsworth, he seems a bit too powerful for the part. Too much of a man’s man. Too much like a man that hits the gym, or perhaps I’m just remembering a more scrawny character than Wilson’s lead actually was. Either way, Hemsworth will surely be beefed up as he won’t have time to trim down considering he’ll likely be bookending Robopocalypse with Thor: The Dark World and The Avengers 2.

Robopocalypse is currently slated for an April 25, 2014 and Hemsworth already has something of a relationship with the film, considering it was adapted for the screen by his Cabin in the Woods writer/director Drew Goddard.

Hemsworth already starred in The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman earlier this year and will be seen in the Red Dawn remake in November following a long shelving and perhaps Ron Howard’s Rush in which he portrays real-life Formula 1 racer James Hunt, but that film is still without a release date so it may push to 2013.
