11 Great Posters for 11 Not-So-Great Movies (That I Have Seen)

The Mechanic

This is the kind of poster that makes me wish the film was less like a modern day Statham actioner and more like the ’70s film that it was remaking.

Over the Top

“His name is Hawk. He’s fighting for his son.”

I admit, this is the only movie on this list I would probably watch again, but not because it’s any good, but more because it’s so bad. This poster, it’s almost just as bad, but it is so bad it’s AMAZING. That tagline is out of this world in its simplicity, and the inclusion of the hawk in the background? Man, it really doesn’t get any better than that. You get it don’t you? His name is Hawk and that’s a picture of a hawk. Brilliant! It’s the poster equivalent of a plastic mesh trucker hat… now that is hard to accomplish.

Pearl Harbor

I think the imagery here is quite impressive, especially when compared with the film. I’m not sure a poster for a Michael Bay film could be made like this nowadays without the woman hanging up her clothes exploding or surrounded by robots, Will Smith and Victoria’s Secret models… Come to think of it, that make for a good poster too.
