2012 Oscars Live Blog: Winners and Live Commentary!

[6:29:18 PM] Laremy says: So we’re both six for nine and feeling fine. Hugo has four little golden men, no one else has more than one.

[6:30:28 PM] Brad says: It’s commercial break and up next is the Cirque du Soleil performance. So, in short, a little break…

[6:32:26 PM] Brad says: So Hugo has four, but I didn’t have it winning anything else and I’m not sure it can unless it is going to take Director and Picture, but I just don’t see that.

[6:34:26 PM] Brad says: So Miss Piggy and Kermit welcome us back from the commercial break.

[6:35:07 PM] Brad says: They are introducing the Cirque performance, which will apparently represent “what it’s like to go to the movies.”

[6:36:36 PM] Laremy says: So going to the movies is EXACTLY like this. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten trapeze burn from my seat.

[6:38:50 PM] Laremy says: All jokes aside, a very solid performance out of Cirque.

[6:41:11 PM] Brad says: Documentary next, a biggie for those predicting… Laremy and I have Undefeated and Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. will tell us who will win it. That is when Downey gets done Tebowing.

[6:42:01 PM] Laremy says: Come on Undefeated!

[6:42:05 PM] Brad says: Downey is filming a documentary called The Presenter… it’s sorta funny, because Downey is funny.

6:43:00 PM: And the winner for Documentary (feature) is Undefeated

[6:43:12 PM] Brad says: That’s a win for both Laremy and I.

[6:44:31 PM] Laremy says: The Undefeated guys are working blue! And they are getting played off in a big way.

[6:44:52 PM] Laremy says: We’re both seven for ten and feeling zen!

[6:45:28 PM] Brad says: Chris Rock is rocking a little more hair than we’re used to and he will apparently be giving us the Best Animated Oscar.

[6:46:24 PM] Brad says: Chris Rock is killing it…

[6:46:39 PM] Laremy says: Agreed. #NuffSaid

6:47:07 PM: And the winner for Animated Feature Film is Rango

[6:48:14 PM] Brad says: Laremy and I are happily 8-for-11 with our predictions and we have Visual Effects and Supporting Actor coming up so I guess Effects could throw us a wrinkle though I don’t see Rise of the Apes losing it.

[6:51:01 PM] Laremy says: The show is running six minutes behind. Which means the “playing off” effect is going to get merciless. You’ve been WARNED Christopher Plummer.

[6:52:27 PM] Brad says: Melissa McCarthy is doing a little Bridesmaids re-enactment with Billy Crystal outside his dressing room.

[6:53:05 PM] Brad says: Ben Stiller and Emma Stone will now tell us the winner for Visual Effects… a strange duo and she is quite happy to be there and about a foot taller than Ben Stiller.

[6:53:41 PM] Laremy says: See? Emma Stone. She’s good people.

[6:53:59 PM] Brad says: Emma Stone, proving she’s a talent…

[6:54:26 PM] Brad says: She is now inviting Jonah Hill up on stage to dance.

6:56:30 PM: And the winner for Visual Effects is Hugo

[6:57:04 PM] Brad says: Hugo takes the Apes and Harry Potter to the woodshed and says, “Yeah, Martin Scorsese films always win!”

[6:58:52 PM] Brad says: Melissa Leo will now tell us the winner for Best Supporting Actor, it’s gonna be Plummer.

[6:58:54 PM] Laremy says: Five big Academy Awards for Hugo. And we’ve been relegated to eight for twelve. 20 correct is just about impossible now. Sad face time.

7:00:56 PM: And the winner for Best Supporting Actor is Christopher Plummer (Beginners)

[7:01:29 PM] Brad says: Christopher Plummer is now the oldest actor to win an Oscar. Did not know that, but now I do.

[7:02:01 PM] Brad says: Plummer, looking at his Oscar, “You’re only two years older than me honey, where have you been all my life?”

[7:04:31 PM] Brad says: Heading into commercials and Laremy and I are 9-for-13 so far, not great, but always nice to see some surprises.

[7:05:22 PM] Laremy says: I would never use Siri. I just don’t have that many questions/commands going on in my life.

[7:05:44 PM] Laremy says: “Can’t wait to see Titanic in 3-D!!” is something you will never hear me say.

[7:07:48 PM] Brad says: I’m with Laremy, though I am a bit more upset with those Siri commercials. In fact, I hate them. That is all…

[7:08:36 PM] Brad says: Score is up next, well after Crystal riffs a bit.

[7:09:41 PM] Brad says: Nick Nolte looks like a beat red Kenny Rogers.

[7:10:29 PM] Brad says: Tom Sherak, president of the Academy, is out to tell us things… hopefully he’ll butcher Michel Hazanavicius’ name again like he did during the nominations.

[7:11:48 PM] Brad says: Billy Crystal, “Thank you Tom, and thank you for whipping the crowd into a frenzy… Mr. Excitement.” Looks like Billy took a few lessons from Ricky Gervais.

[7:12:12 PM] Laremy says: Only 80 minutes away from 2011 being in the books. Then it’s all Dark Knight Rises all the time around these parts.

[7:12:39 PM] Brad says: And here comes Best Score presented by Penelope Cruz and Owen Wilson… Time for The Artist to get back in the win column.

[7:13:32 PM] Laremy says: If Artist loses Score they are in real trouble.

7:14:14 PM: And the winner for Music (Original Score) is The Artist

[7:16:03 PM] Laremy says: They’ve got to be dying to play off this fellow. No ratings to be found here.

[7:16:53 PM] Brad says: Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are out with giant cymbals right in the face of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, you could actually see Pitt’s hair flying back.

[7:17:05 PM] Brad says: They will present the winner for Best Song.

[7:17:26 PM] Laremy says: Will Ferrell and Zack G. are definitely killing it in this room, focus group of four.

7:18:28 PM: And the winner for Music (Original Song) is The Muppets for “Man or Muppet”

[7:20:55 PM] Brad says: We are close to the final hour so I am going to do one last page break. Join us on page four and let’s make for the home stretch.
