I love these visual effects reels from companies such as ILM and Digital Domain. More and more of them are being released nowadays, and I particularly enjoy them because they don’t explain the ins and outs of what the companies do, but instead give you a brief glimpse at their movie-making magic almost providing as many questions as answers.
Today Paramount sent over a new effects reel looking at the Oscar-nominated animated feature Rango, clearly as a move to keep the conversation squarely on the lizard’s shoulders in the Best Animated Feature category since it’s not up for Visual Effects, but even still it’s worth a watch. However, I think the effects feature for Transformers: Dark of the Moon is immensely more impressive (see that here)
