Director Juan Antonio Bayona impressed a lot of people back in 2007, myself included, with his feature directorial debut The Orphanage. His name was then mentioned, along with others, as the potential director of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Thankfully, that didn’t happen, no need to sully a career so young with material so terrible. Instead he reteamed with Orphanage screenwriter Sergio G. Sanchez for The Impossible, a film based on the true story of a family caught in the 2004 tsunami that hit the coast of Thailand.
The film stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and will be released by Summit in 2012. An YouTube).
The film will be released in English, though this teaser does feature the Spanish dubbed dialogue. I’m sure an English language version will be available soon enough, but this teaser pretty much does the job taking my above description into consideration.
