Sierra Affinity just released this first look at Ryan Gosling as professional motorcycle rider turned bank robber in The Place Beyond the Pines, his second collaboration with Blue Valentine helmer Derek Cianfrance where he co-stars opposite Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, Ben Mendelsohn and Ray Liotta.
The story follows Luke (Gosling), a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational fued. The Place Beyond the Pines is described as a rich dramatic thriller that traces the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villain.
The film still doesn’t have a domestic distributor, but expect to see it on the festival circuit in 2012.
