Nevermind, None of ‘The Avengers’ was Shot On an iPhone

I am so sorry, but when a legitimate news outlet puts something in quotes in an interview I take it that is what the person said. So, when Mandy Hegarty of the Irish Film & Television Network quoted The Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey saying, “On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer!” I find it to be interesting. Unfortunately, it’s also not true and a complete misquote.

Now you can actually go to the site and the entire quote has been removed. Yup, never happened. No “update” notice, nothing. Just removed. Nice work folks.

Well, The Hollywood Reporter got in touch with McGarvey over the quote because, let’s face it, shooting any part of a massive superhero tentpole on an iPhone is pretty big news, not to mention pretty cool. McGarvey had this to say:

“I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel’s The Avengers movie,” he stated to THR. “Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true.”

So there you have it.
