New ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Viral Website Comes Forth in the Thaw

A new viral website for David Fincher‘s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been unearthed at ComesForthInTheThaw.com with a slogan that reads “What is Hidden in Snow, Comes Forth in the Thaw.”

Clicking on the slogan opens a new window that features some eerie music we can only assume was scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as the image you see above is slowly revealed. What does it all mean? The hell if I know, but I have a suspicious feeling, if you’re interested in what’s going on right now, you should keep a close eye on this site throughout the day.

Sony is certainly doing their best to maintain visibility for this film as we near the December 21 release date. An additional viral site, Mouth Taped Shut, has been around for some time, uploading new photos and videos from behind-the-scenes. I’ve included a recently uploaded photo directly below and anyone that’s either read Stieg Larsson’s book or seen the first film knows exactly what has just happened and what is about to happen.

Based on Stieg Larsson‘s internationally best-selling novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a murder mystery looking as far back as 40 years at the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families. All these years later, her aged uncle continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara). Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption.
