Javier Bardem Negotiating to Voice El Macho in ‘Despicable Me 2’

Heat Vision is reporting Javier Bardem is in negotiations to voice the villain in Universal’s Despicable Me 2, the follow-up to the 2010 animated hit featuring Steve Carell as the voice of Gru, a super-villain who changes his ways after adopting a trio of orphans.

Little has been reported on the story for the sequel, but this news gives us a few details reporting Bardem would be voicing the character El Macho who has a son of his own named Machito. Original directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud will also be back for the feature, which is already slated for a July 3, 2013 release.

Previously a piece of teaser art for the film was revealed, which you can check out right here.

Bardem will next be seen in Terrence Malick’s The Burial and he’s rumored as one of the villains in James Bond 23.
