Damon Lindelof Discusses a Few of the Secrets Behind ‘Prometheus’

Thanks to a heads up from Slash Film we have the following interview with Damon Lindelof where he discusses his screenplay for Prometheus, the upcoming sci-fi film from Ridley Scott that was, at one point, going to be a prequel to Scott’s 1979 film Alien. Now it’s a bit of a different beast as we learned even further with the new official synopsis I discussed only a few days ago.

Now Lindeloff has opened the doors a little more in discussing the film and I’m going to present you with just this one quote from the interview where he discusses Michael Fassbender‘s character, an android that goes by the name of David, but this isn’t apparently an android like the one played by Ian Holm in the first film.

One of the things that evokes the idea of Blade Runner is, ‘What does the movie look like from the robot’s point of view?’ If you were to ask him, ‘What do you think about all of this? What’s going on? What do you think about these humans who are around you?,’ wouldn’t it be cool if we found a way for that robot to answer those questions.

Check out the full interview below and for all my coverage on the film so far click here. The film hits theaters on June 8, 2012.

Ridley Scott, director of Alien and Blade Runner, returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
