Cole Trickle and Harry Hogge are Together Again

I don’t know where the rest of the world stands, but I love Days of Thunder. It’s Top Gun with race cars and I love Top Gun. I grew up in the ’80s and as such I’m also a huge Tom Cruise fan. He jumped on a couch? So what? He has some strange religious beliefs theories? So what? He’s not hurting me.

When I think of Cruise I think of Lt. Pete Mitchell (callsign: Maverick), Dr. William ‘Bill’ Harford, Frank T.J. Mackey, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, Cole Trickle, Ethan Hunt, Les Grossman and Charlie Babbitt whose brother is an excellent driver. Yes, I realize Cruise was essentially playing the same person in most of those roles, but I liked that character and now he’s preparing to reunite with one of his Days of Thunder co-stars for his latest film One Shot.

ShowBlitz reports Robert Duvall is in final negotiations to join the cast, though his role has yet to be disclosed. The film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie and is based on the Lee Child bestselling book series centering on Jack Reacher (Cruise), a former military policeman-turned-drifter. In “One Shot” Reacher investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. Reacher discovers it’s more than a simple open-and-shut case. Duvall’s role is apparently small, but “significant to Reacher’s story line.”

Paramount is already set to release the film on February 8, 2013.
