A New Clip from Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Alps’ Debuts

Thanks to a heads up from The Playlist we have a clip from Yorgos LanthimosAlps, the Dogtooth director’s latest film, which recently premiered in Venice to solid reviews.

Xan Brooks calls it a “spendidly icy picture.” Deborah Young describes it as the helmer’s “caustic fourth feature,” saying it “is as bizarre and elliptical as Dogtooth and Kinetta, and like its offbeat predecessors has an inexplicable power to draw the viewer into its hermetic web of inhuman relationships.”

And over at The Playlist, Oliver Lyttelton says it’s “not quite like anything you’ve seen (its closest relative being, well, Dogtooth), and part of its pleasure is watching it play out. There’s no giant twist or anything, but we’re glad we saw it the way we did: knowing only a brief synopsis, and nothing else.” People are finally grasping on to how I feel every film should be seen.

All of that said, I’ll be seeing the film on Monday, September 12 in Toronto and really can’t wait to be among some of the first people to see. Today, however, you can get your second glimpse at the film (should you so choose) following the previously released, brief teaser trailer. I watched the trailer, but I didn’t watch this clip as I don’t want to know too much about the film before going in. I’m thankful I knew nothing about Dogtooth and considering the comparisons it seems it’s best to go into this one with pretty much the same amount of information.
