Pike Joins Cruise’s ‘One Shot,’ Cooper Drops ‘Crow’ and Pitt is ‘The Gray Man’

One Shot and today one of them has been chosen as Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day) beat out Alexa Davalos (Clash of the Titans) and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger).

The film is based on the Lee Child novel series and will feature Cruise as Jack Reacher, a retired military policeman who wanders the country with only his passport, bankbook, toothbrush and the clothes on his back. In One Shot, Reacher investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. Reacher discovers it’s more than a simple open-and-shut case. Pike will play Helen Rodin, a local defense attorney defending the man arrested for the shootings. She works with Reacher to bring the true culprits to justice. Christopher McQuarrie is directing the feature with plans to go into production this fall for a February 8, 2013 release date. [Deadline]

Bradley Cooper has dropped out of the lead role in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo‘s (28 Weeks Later) remake of The Crow and word now is Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg are both listed as possible replacements. The film is a new adaptation of the James O’Barr comic series, which is said to be a gritty reboot following the 1994 adaptation directed by Alex Proyas. The new film will again tell the story of Eric Draven, who returns from the grave to avenge the death of his wife. Ironically, Cooper’s departure is due to a scheduling conflict with Paradise Lost which will be directed by, yup, Alex Proyas, in which Cooper is taking on the role of Lucifer in the John Milton adaptation.
