First Look at Amber Heard with Johnny Depp in ‘The Rum Diary’

The film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson‘s first novel (read the NY Times book review here), The Rum Diary, stars Johnny Depp and was directed by Bruce Robinson (Withnail & I) and has been in motion for about eight years after first being announced back in 2003 and filming finally beginning in March of 2009. However, since then we haven’t heard much.

It received its MPAA rating back in thought it may end up being an Oscar contender that year as well, and as time kept ticking away we still had no word on the feature, but GK Films has stepped in and we can now expect to see it on October 28. Will the wait be worth it?

Today, the first image of Amber Heard as Chenault has arrived as she sits alongside Johnny Depp as Paul Kemp, a roaming journalist who travels to Puerto Rico to work for the San Juan Star, and soon becomes obsessed with Chenault, a wildly attractive fiancee of shady local businessman Hal Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart). The film also stars Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Rispoli and Richard Jenkins.

Along with the pic above, I’ve added two others to the my gallery right here.
