Trailer and Pictures from TIFF 2011 Closing Night Spy Drama, ‘Page Eight’

Along with this morning’s announcement that David Hare’s spy drama Page Eight starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Michael Gambon, Ralph Fiennes and Judy Davis would be the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival’s closing night film, I also have for you four new images from the film as well as a festival trailer.

In the film Nighy plays Johnny Worricker, a long-serving M15 officer. His boss and best friend Benedict Baron (Gambon) dies suddenly, leaving behind him an inexplicable file, threatening the stability of the organization. Meanwhile, a seemingly chance encounter with Johnny’s striking next-door neighbor and political activist Nancy Pierpan (Weisz) seems too good to be true. Set in London and Cambridge, Page Eight is described as a contemporary spy film which addresses intelligence issues and moral dilemmas peculiar to the new century.

Page Eight marks the third film Rachel Weisz will be seen in at this year’s festival along with Terence Davies’ The Deep Blue Sea and 360 reteaming her with Constant Gardener helmer Fernando Meirelles. She just saw The Whistleblower hit theaters and will also be seen in Dream House at the end of September. She’s definitely keeping herself busy.

Check out the trailer for Page Eight below. I didn’t even know this film existed, but the cast and synopsis alone have me incredibly intrigued.
