Charlize Theron Dresses in Hello Kitty for First Look Pic from Jason Reitman’s ‘Young Adult’

Paramount just debuted the following first image of Charlize Theron in Jason Reitman‘s Young Adult marking the helmer’s second collaboration with Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody. Along with Theron, the film co-stars Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson and Elizabeth Reaser and is currently slated for a December 9 limited release with a wide expansion on December 16

In the film Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school either.

The picture doesn’t exactly move the dial one way or another, but I’m sure those that tired quickly from Cody’s Juno dialogue will see the Hello Kitty t-shirt, the dog in the pink bag and the pink purse will already be a little bit off-put by this pic. However, the one thing I will say Reitman really seems to have command of are his characters. I have a feeling a trailer will be converting people just as quickly as this image may turn them off.
