Car Engine Fan Makes Brain Soup
FINAL DESTINATION 3
This is one of the better gore-meets-shock value deaths as an engine is dislodged from one car and flies out and subsequently continues running with the fan cutting into the back of Frankie’s head. That, however, is just the gruesome part. Following the death Wendy and Kevin are examining the scene when the fan kicks back to life for one last spin, splattering blood on the wall and providing a solid jump scare.
A better version of this scene can be seen here. Unfortunately it’s not embeddable.

Airbag
FINAL DESTINATION 2
Trapped in her car, Kat asks the firemen trying to cut her free if they can keep it down a bit. The fireman holding the rotary saw sarcastically replies, “Yeah, sure. I’ll just put it on quiet mode.” A couple seconds later the saw jars the airbag loose sending Kat’s head backward into a piece of PVC pipe.

Backyard BBQ Goes Awry
FINAL DESTINATION 2
Unfortunately this is the only one I couldn’t find an embeddable version, but if you want to watch it you can right here.
At the end of Final Destination 2 everything seems to have worked out just fine when Thomas and Kim are invited over for a backyard barbecue at the house of the farmer from earlier in the film. However, when it is revealed the farmer saved his son from almost certain death it can only end one way.
The arm falling in front of the mother is the icing on the cake.

Terry Takes a Bus to the Face
FINAL DESTINATION
Of course, another solid death that was mimicked in The Final Destination, but then again this is a shock technique used in more and more films on a monthly basis. In fact, there are at least two films releasing this month that include a similar scene… will Final Destination 5 make it three?

Multiple Car Pileup
FINAL DESTINATION 2
My favorite film in the Final Destination franchise is undoubtedly number two and much of it has to do with the opening car crash scene, which combines excellent sound design with just an all-out fantastic bit of mayhem. While the log to the face part of this scene is quite impressive, my favorite part is when Shaina’s head is sticking out of the sunroof as the red SUV tumbles down the freeway. A very nice touch.
This, coincidentally, is just another one of the examples of how The Final Destination copied previous installments in the franchise as it too opened with a massive car crash only in The Final Destination it was at a hillbilly race track with horrible effects and not one, but two instances of people getting impaled to take full advantage of the 3D.
So there you have it, those are my favorite scenes, I’d love to hear yours and if you need a refresher here’s a seven-minute montage of death scenes from the franchise that may help jog your memory. The Final Destination hits theaters this Friday, August 12, for more on the film including trailers and pictures click here.
