TIFF 2011 First Look: ‘Friends With Kids’ Reunites ‘Bridesmaids’ Stars Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm

Jennifer Westfeldt played Melissa on “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” for 13 episodes, had a three-episode arc on “Grey’s Anatomy” and then six episodes on the eighth season of “24” but she never had all that elaborate a film career, but now she’s making the big leap with her feature directorial debut Friends with Kids, which she also wrote and stars in alongside Kristen Wiig, Megan Fox, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph and Edward Burns.

The film is described as a poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes. There are big laughs and unexpected emotional truths as the last two singles in the group, out of step with their married pals, resolve to have a kid together… and date other people.

The film marks a rather massive reunion of Bridesmaids stars including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm and Chris O’Dowd. It hasn’t yet been picked up by a domestic distributor, but if it can live up to the cast’s pedigree it will likely find one soon enough.

The 2011 Toronto International Film Festival plays from September 8-18. For my complete coverage click here.
