Box-Office Oracle: ‘Cars 2’ at the Top, but Can It Crack $70 Million?

Another easy call at the top, Pixar’s Cars 2 will dominate. But how high are we talking, and what do you make of Bad Teacher‘s prospects? That’s why we’re all here, let’s break it down!
Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 7 Weeks In A Row
Knight and Day seems like the easiest comp in the world, and that only opened at $20m. So where is the extra $6m coming from? Justin Timberlake is worth a bit less than a million tickets on a date night. There, done.
Prediction: $26.4 million
Dropping 55 percent this weekend. A vocal minority rose up to defend this film last weekend … so hopefully those fine folks get more in the way of mediocre film sent directly to their dome.
Prediction: $23.929 million
$100m on a $50m budget isn’t amazing. But the holdovers have been pretty strong … so the jury is still out.
Prediction: $13.955 million
They spent $55m making this film. That doesn’t feel like a solid business model to this guy.
Prediction: $8.3 million
$290m on $160m. But I imagine those January Jones figurines are selling like mad.
Prediction: $5.742 million
We haven’t even talked about how this is going to make boatloads overseas. But it is, $22m has come in from Spain and France already.
Prediction: $4.558 million
The number one film of 2011! For around two more weeks.
Prediction: $4.401 million
It will end up as a moneymaker. But it won’t end up making enough money to justify the caviar wishes and champagne dreams of Paramount / Dreamworks.
Prediction: $4.215 million
$147m on $32m means if you’ve got a “sisterhood comedy” script lying around it’s time to sell! sell! sell!
Prediction: $3.586 million

That’s how I see the stacks coming in this weekend. How say you? Want to go $80m + for Cars 2? Have I gone bonkers for Bad Teacher? Predictions away!
