New UK Poster for ‘Don’t be Afraid of the Dark’

Empire debuted the following UK poster for the Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t be Afraid of the Dark, a film I’m truly looking forward to based on only the small snippets of the trailer I saw. Yeah, I didn’t watch the whole thing and probably saw no more than ten seconds and was sold.

Directed by Troy Nixey, the film is based on the 1973 telefilm that del Toro believes is the scariest TV production ever made. The story follows Sally (Bailee Madison), a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the house, Sally starts to hear voices coming from creatures in the basement whose hidden agenda is to claim her as one of their own.

Check out the poster below and if you haven’t watched the trailer yet I have a couple you can choose from along with some stills from the film right here. Don’t be Afraid of the Dark hits theaters on August 12.
