A teaser poster for the upcoming Walter Salles feature On the Road, starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams based on Jack Keroac’s story of the same name has arrived thanks to a Twitter picture found via The Playlist.
The film was one of several speculated to potentially play here at the Cannes Film Festival, but will likely now have its first screenings in Toronto, which is to say that yes, while I am loving my time here in France it is just as equally exciting to be looking forward to the Toronto International Film Festival once again.
In On the Road, adapted by Jose Rivera (Letters to Juliet, The Motorcycle Diaries), Hedlund is set to play Dean Moriarty while Riley will play Kerouac’s alter ego, Salvatore Paradise, as the two young men journey across the North American landscape in pursuit of self-knowledge and experience. Kristen Stewart will play Paradise’s on-and-off wife, Marylou and Dunst, whom I’ll be seeing tomorrow morning in Lars von Trier’s Melancholia will play Camille. The film is currently in post and is still looking for a distributor.
