Unfortunately the following featurette doesn’t explain why Fox decided on what is possibly the worst film title of the year, but it does give you a bit more insight into the story behind the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes in case you were interested.
I had hoped to avoid all trailers for this film and see everything fresh when it hits theaters on August 5, but a trailer was shown in front of my Water for Elephants screening a week or so back. I know a lot of people weren’t too keen on the teaser trailer when it debuted, but I am actually mildly interested.
I don’t, however, think it will compare to the original film. CGI has pretty much ruined all hope for new films to mimic what we saw before computer graphics replaced practical effects. Limitations in effects forced screenwriters to try harder when it came to story and now a dazzling display of monkeys attacking helicopters has replaced all of that. Oh well.
