Solid Gold Poster for Cooper’s ‘The Devil’s Double’

You’ve all heard of Uday Hussein, son to Saddam Hussein and big brother to Qusay Hussein. You also heard of their death in Iraq in 2003, but did you know a movie, The Devil’s Double, was made based on the story of the elder son as well as his body double Latif Yahia with Dominic Cooper starring as both of them. It completely slipped my mind, even though I reported on it back in November 2009 and even though it played at Sundance this year to middling reviews.

Lionsgate has picked the film up and set a July 29 platform release for the picture, which means they are hoping word of mouth will carry the feature through the summer, and they are starting with a rather ridiculous, Lady Gaga style poster that I can’t help but like.

The film is directed by Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) and adapted from Yahia’s autobiographical novel with Ludivine Sangier co-starring opposite Cooper.

You can have a look at the poster below, get a larger look at it at Ain’t It Cool News where it premiered and check out one more photo right here in our gallery. I’ve also included a pair of videos in this post, one above and another below the poster, from Sundance that include interviews and not safe for work clips from the film as a trailer is not yet available.
