I can’t help but believe this will stir up a hornet’s nest as the following clip just hit YouTube previewing this Friday’s pre-taped episode of the “Late Show With David Letterman” as James Franco discusses the negative reviews for his and Anne Hathaway’s Oscar hosting duties.
The first question deals with why everyone would think he looked stoned during the show. His response, “I think I know why. Because, I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway… She has a lot of energy.”
Interesting. Now he’s not exactly saying it’s Hathaway’s fault, but it does tend to come across a little like that.
He then does tend to blame it on everyone else saying, “[Here’s] the hypocritical thing. Leading up to the Oscars, I couldn’t hear enough about how, Oh, people don’t care about the Oscars anymore. It’s dead. It’s boring. It’s at the end of a long awards season. Who cares about it? Well, as soon as you don’t host the way they want you to, they suddenly care and they won’t shut up about it.”
Actually, I thought everyone had shut up about it. But this was too interesting to not mention and in all honesty I think Franco’s feelings were simply hurt. In that case I do feel bad for him, but I’m not sure he’s dealing with it the best he could.
