First Look at Roman Polanski’s ‘Carnage’

Empire debuted the above first look at Roman Polanski’s new film Carnage, which is based on Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning drama that follows the story of two couples who come together one evening to discuss the behavior of their children, only for things to quickly become heated.

The film stars Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly as one of the couples and Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz as the other. Foster was quoted telling Empire, “It all happens in real-time, so it’s about an hour and 45 minutes of negotiation between two sets of parents and how it all falls apart… Kind of like Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, but a little funnier. There’s a lot of wit.” Polanski co-wrote the screenplay with Reza.

The film was shot over the course of five weeks in February and was at one time rumored for Cannes, but it seems like it is now looking at either a Venice or Toronto bow and, if it finds Stateside distribution, a late year release for an Oscar run.

I’ve added all three pics from Empire to the gallery, so click here to check them out.
