Box-Office Oracle: Mar. 11 – Mar. 13, 2011

I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I’m on the road to Austin, TX for the SXSW Film Festival. I like the actioner at the top, followed by the holdover, followed distantly by the children’s film in fourth. Let’s break it down!
Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 2 Weeks In A Row
I can only call a 35 percent dip because the trailers for Mars Needs Moms have been brutal. I think parents will make the choice to entertain their kids … and themselves.
Prediction: $24.75 million
I think they will have troubles attracting the menfolk, especially with the “from the director of Twilight” advertising campaign. Sort of a weird sell all the way around, a “horror” fairy tale aimed at young audiences.
Prediction: $19.7 million
Because 2-D is the new 3-D and 3-D is the new thing to avoid.
Prediction: $12.47 million
I’m not at all sure why this didn’t get better reviews. Very entertaining, and I think word of mouth will earn them a decent holdover this weekend.
Prediction: $12.15 million
The Farrelly Brothers should keep getting budgets, because comedy can be done on the cheap … but the difference is they might start actually having to make them on the cheap.
Prediction: $5.37 million
The biggest dipper of the weekend, because last weekend’s $9.9m result was likely front-loaded.
Prediction: $4.64 million
The Oscar Push didn’t come, because everyone had already seen it. Will PG-13 help? Nope.
Prediction: $4.49 million
Hopefully the international crowd really loves gnome puns.
Prediction: $3.76 million
Did Brooklyn Decker at least get her SAG card out of this?
Prediction: $3.72 million

So what do you think? Am I over-estimating Rango and underestimating Mars Needs Moms? Will Red Riding Hood pull in the Twilight audience or is Warner’s attempt to pull them in too obvious? Post your predictions and thoughts below and Brad will be here to wrap it the weekend up on Sunday.
