I don’t think for a second the effects from Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter will win Oscar’s visual effects award. Personally I don’t even think the tsunami scene was all that impressive as much as it was just another disaster effect we’ve seen in countless number of films, namely, nearly every Roland Emmerich film over the past ten years. Hereafter did, however, win a Supporting Visual Effects nod from the Visual Effects Society, but said tsunami sequence did lose out to Inception‘s Hospital Fortress Destruction sequence.
Nevertheless, effects featurettes are always fun to watch, especially when everyone just shuts up and lets the effects work tell the story. Here is another example of just that, courtesy of ScanlineVFX, and if you missed the Black Swan version I posted back in January click here to give it a peek.
