Kevin Smith is preparing to take his latest film, Red State, on a 13 city roadshow tour beginning in New York on March 5 and ending here in my home city of Seattle on April 4, and you can get full list of the cities in-between right here. Following that, plan is to release the film in theaters on October 19.
He’s also starting to do a little bit of press and publicity for the film, which included a live conversation with Smith at MTV yesterday and now the first clip from the film featuring Oscar-nominated actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Michael Angarano (Sky High). Check it out below.
Personally I probably won’t see this until October because I’m not paying over $50 to see a Kevin Smith film and the stand-up act that goes with it. I like Smith’s early work a lot, and he is great live, but I’m just not interested enough to spend that much money on a night with Smith although based on ticket sales here in Seattle it looks like he’s already sold out all the cheap seats as only $70+ tickets are left.
I know he’s caught a lot of flack for his approach to distributing Red State, but if any director can pull this off it’s Smith, after all the most entertaining aspect of Kevin Smith nowadays is the man himself, not his movies.
