This will undoubtedly be one of the worst weekends of the year, at least until we hit the dog days of September. Snowpocalypse and The Super Bowl will doom the new releases, that’s if the lack of quality they exemplify doesn’t get to them first. Still, let’s get to it!
Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 4 Weeks In A Row
2. Sanctum
Really putrid. I sort of have to tip my cap, I don’t think many people could have made a film this bad given the resources employed. Still, at least it is in 3-D.
Prediction: $11.88 million
A 36 percent drop for you, though you just know a few poor bastards are going to be dragged to this one on Sunday.
Prediction: $8.58 million
I really wonder about the people who predicted The Social Network over The King’s Speech. Have they not seen The Academy Awards before?
Prediction: $8.29 million
5. The Rite
I would have called it The Right. Or maybe Wright’s Rite, with the main character going by Mr. Wright. In other news, I have not been signed to any Hollywood holding deals that I’m aware of.
Prediction: $7.1 million
The slow bleed of The Green Hornet has begun, the $120m production budget sinking all hope of profit during the theatrical run.
Prediction: $6.84 million
7. True Grit
This one will end up making four to five times its production budget. That’s significant.
Prediction: $5.17 million
8. The Mechanic
Still, the idea of a gun made out of guns was a winning poster idea.
Prediction: $5.12 million
9. Black Swan
If I had $20m dollars I’d give at least $13m of it to Aronofsky. Because he turned this $13m into $122m worldwide.
Prediction: $3.95 million
10. The Dilemma
Does anyone have a feel for the foreign take? I’ve got to think people will avoid this one worldwide, no?
Prediction: $3.78 million
How say you? Do you like the producer pull of James Cameron with Sanctum? Will the top twelve even top $80m? Any Super Bowl calls? I like Pittsburgh, but I sure wouldn’t bet either way on it. Total coin flip. Brad will be back on Sunday to wrap this weekend up nice and neat for you!
