2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards Live Blog: Winners and Commentary

5:54:05 PM: Just kicking it off here on page three… Howdy.

5:54:58 PM: Seriously though… Betty White for “Hot in Cleveland”? The show on TV Land? A show with four leads and it still can’t win Best Ensemble? Ugh.

5:58:42 PM: Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman are now announcing Black Swan as one of the five ensemble nominees.

5:59:28 PM: I’m sorry if this blog is boring, but unless I just start insulting everyone there isn’t much to say. It’s quite dull.

5:59:58 PM: Even the clip montages for the ensemble nominees are terrible.

6:00:18 PM: Tim Conway is now going to bestow on 94-year-old Ernest Borgnine the Life Achievement Award. So go take a bathroom break.

6:06:31 PM: Yup, Life Achievement is still going on. Borgnine has done some great work, but I really don’t have much to say.

6:09:01 PM: There really is no life to this piece. The voice over on the Borgnine montage made it seem like it was a funeral.

6:09:29 PM: Now Morgan Freeman is out to actually present the award, but before he does he has to tell everyone to sit down because he “can’t see the teleprompter with all of you standing up.” It seems no one has been able to see the teleprompter all night.

6:13:13 PM: Okay, that’s over… commercial time as Beyonce tries to sell me some eyeliner.

6:18:04 PM: Robin Wright and Jeremy Renner are next on stage to present the award for Best Actor in a TV Movie or Mini-Series

6:18:55 PM: And the winner is Al Pacino for “You Don’t Know Jack”

6:20:18 PM: Al Pacino isn’t there to accept… I envy him, because I doubt he’s watching as well.

6:20:42 PM: Now we have Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer and Justin Timberlake to present The Social Network as one of the five Best Ensemble nominees.

6:21:58 PM: Rosario Dawson and Josh Duhammel are next up and they are presenting for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-Series

6:22:52 PM: The winner here has to be Claire Danes

6:23:21 PM: And the winner is Claire Danes for “Temple Grandin”

6:24:47 PM: Okay, we are finally done with TV awards… time to get to the real conversation. Movies!

6:26:14 PM: Congrats Claire Danes, you are the first one to get played off.

6:26:32 PM: Hilary Swank will now do the In Memoriam piece.

6:30:50 PM: Commercial break and then it’s movie time.

6:35:24 PM: Susan Sarandon will now present the award for Best Supporting Actor

6:35:56 PM: Bale or Rush? I say Bale…

6:36:07 PM: And the winner is…

6:36:51 PM: Christian Bale for The Fighter

6:38:20 PM: Hey now! The real Dicky Eklund shows up on stage!

6:38:33 PM: At least there’s a little bit of interest happening at the moment. Eklund asks Bale, “How you like me now?”

6:39:28 PM: Best, most heartfelt speech of the night definitely goes to Christian Bale.

6:40:08 PM: This gives The Fighter three SAGs for the night and I can’t believe they won’t win ensemble at this point.

6:40:33 PM: Speaking of which, here are Amy Adams and Mark Wahlberg to introduce The Fighter as one of the five ensemble nominees.

6:41:22 PM: Wahlberg tells a story of how he told Bale, jokingly, that he wasn’t going to win tonight you can hear Bale scream from backstage, “SHUT UP!” Great stuff.

6:42:45 PM: The Dude is out to present the award for Best Actress

6:43:15 PM: Is this Bening or Portman? I say Bening, everyone else says Portman.

6:43:57 PM: And the winner is…

6:44:07 PM: Natalie Portman for Black Swan

6:44:50 PM: Man, may have to rethink that Bening for Oscar theory I’ve been pushing recently… Portman has the juice.

6:46:23 PM: Portman said “ass hole” and it got bleeped.

6:49:42 PM: Oops, two SAGs for The Fighter so far. My fault and thanks to those that caught it.

6:50:04 PM: Only two awards left, Best Actor and Best Ensemble

6:51:51 PM: Nicole Kidman is presenting for Best Actor… Firth has this locked right?

6:53:51 PM: And the winner is Colin Firth for The King’s Speech

6:55:14 PM: I have nothing to say at this moment, nothing is interesting about this show tonight.

6:56:23 PM: And now it’s time, Donald Sutherland of all people will award Best Ensemble

6:56:49 PM: And…

6:56:56 PM: …the winner is…

6:57:03 PM: The King’s Speech

6:57:20 PM: Game over… Take The King’s Speech to the bank folks. Can it sweep the Oscars?

6:59:41 PM: Well, that’s it folks… the rerun is on right after it, but I’m taking a break… that was mind numbing.
