I was wondering when the robot concept art for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen would surface and I have to wonder no more as a Flickr account has revealed 25 images of nine of the sequel’s robots including Fallen, Megatron, Ravage, Starscream, Skids & Mudflap, Devastator, Sideswipe, Ironhide and Ratchet. Last time around I used similar images to introduce folks to the robots from the first film in a feature I called Meet the Transformers.
I have included a bit about each robot and smaller images below, but for the complete gallery click here
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters on June 24.
Fallen
The Fallen is an ancient robot, sort of the Transformers’ version of Lucifer. He’s one of the original robot aliens, and his defiance and arrogance led to his banishment into another dimension.
Megatron
In the first film Megatron was the leader of the Decepticons only his “death” at the end left his involvement in the sequel up for question. Well, that question has been answered, however to what capacity and how he will be involved is not yet known.
Ravage
A four-legged, cat-like robot.
Starscream
Formerly Megatron’s second in command, he escaped at the end of the first movie; F-22 Raptor jet.
Skids & Mudflap a.k.a. The Twins
Two of GM’s other concept cars (the Trax and Beat) play The Twins, nicknamed Skids and Mudflap.
Devastator
Scavenger, Scrapper, Hightower, Longhaul, Rampage, Overload and Mixmaster — transform into construction machinery, but also link up with one another to form one gigantic robot stomper named Devastator.
Sideswipe
Sideswipe, a candy-apple red Lamborghini in the original, joins the cast this time as General Motor’s silver Corvette Stingray concept car.
Ironhide
Ironhide is a tough hombre, a cowboy who is all action and has been around the universe a few times. One of Optimus Prime’s oldest friends, he is probably the most battlescarred of his brethren. He is usually in charge of safekeeping anything or anyone of importance, and acts as Optimus Prime’s personal bodyguard. His favorite saying: “High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts.” Gruff, but kind, he shoots a variety of liquids from super-cooled nitrogen to super-heated lead. He has sonar, radar, radio-wave detector. Although he’s the slowest Autobot, his skin is made of a trithyllium-steel alloy injected with irradiated carbon fibers, giving him immunity to most forms of attack and making him the least vulnerable Autobot.
Ratchet
Autobot Ratchet serves as the medic to his Autobot brethren. In Transformers, however, he takes the form of a Hummer H2, modified into an ambulance. He is a healer, but a soldier nonetheless. His courage and loyalty are demonstrated time and again.
