So Zooey Deschanel has joined the cast of Jim Carrey‘s Yes Man with The Break-Up‘s Peyton Reed directing, but the wonderment for this film doesn’t lie anywhere other than Jim Carrey and whether or not he can make a comeback to feature films or if his days have passed him by.
Yes Man follows a man (Carrey) who decides to change his life by saying yes to everything that comes his way, leading him on a series of unexpected comedic adventures that turn his life upside down. Deschanel plays the romantic female lead, a woman Carrey meets on his journeys and Bradley Cooper has already been cast as Carrey’s best friend.
Carrey has suffered from a few films being nixed lately and his last theatrical release The Number 23 hit with a triumphant thud. Will Yes Man return him back to superstardom?
Personally I actually like Carrey’s efforts to try and break out of the goofy comedic roles that made him popular and hopefully this film will give him a little bit of leeway to give the more dramatic and serious roles another shot. While Number 23 was quite bad, it wasn’t as bad as a lot of the crap out there right now.
