Penn and Iggy Voicing ‘Persepolis’

I think Sean Penn is a decent actor, but I just can’t stand watching him for some reason. Am I the only one that can actually see this guy acting? What I mean is that when he squints his eyes and says something he believes to be important with his head cocked just seems to be so rehearsed, and far from believable. Perhaps it is just me, but at least in this next flick the head turn won’t be there because it will only be his voice.

Penn and Iggy Pop are joining Gena Rowlands and Catherine Deneuve in the voice cast of the animated feature Persepolis, a North American version of Sony Pictures Classics’ French animated political drama.

Penn is lending his voice to the father of a young girl struggling with life in Iran during and after the fall of the Shah in 1979. Pop will play her politically active uncle.

Rowlands will voice the role of the girl’s grandmother and Deneuve will reprise the French-language role of the girl’s mother in English. The film is tentatively slated for domestic theatrical release at the end of 2007.
