Hey SiCKO! Why the lowercase i?

This is by no means extremely exciting, but it got me thinking and I am really looking for answers as to why the title for Michael Moore’s upcoming documentary SiCKO has the lowercase “i” in it.

I did some Google searching and noticed several other sites have been asking the same questions and I didn’t want to write up this article until I had one guess as to why it might be, and while I have a guess I am not extremely confident in my answer. Even though it is the only one I can come up with that seems slightly logical.

My guess is that the promotional group in charge of selling the film, perhaps Moore himself, is biting off the acronym the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America uses, PhARMA. PhARMA is the country’s leading pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies.

Moore’s doc points fingers in plenty of directions and you can believe the pharmaceutical companies are one of them. I have seen this movie (in a theater, not downloaded off the Net) and will say it is pretty good, I just wish in his attempts to show us how free healthcare is in London, France, Canada and Cuba he would have also told us how much people pay in taxes in those places. Just a little gripe on my part, especially when he goes on-and-on about how “free” it all is. As for the rest of it, he is pretty much spot on and it is certainly eye-opening.

I am not confident in my guess as to why the film’s title is spelled that way, but if someone out there has another idea feel free to share below. My guess is that there won’t be a single comment considering I don’t even know if there is a real answer.

SiCKO hits theaters on June 29.
