The RopeofSilicon Top Ten section is now open and our first official installment comes in the form of “Worst Movies That Made Over $100 Million”. In an effort to have an increased amount of fun on this site and include more user interaction with the comment section for each specific list giving you a chance to love or hate our list to our very faces. However, enough of that garbage, let’s get to the meat of this list.
With all the focus on box-office numbers now days I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at these so-called box-office success stories and see how many of them were actual duds that America was duped into paying for. Out of over 350 films I have made a list of the ten worst and these bad boys generated $1,860,245,136 at the domestic box-office. Now that is a lot of cheese.
One of the films on this list made over $400 million and a few that fell just short include Pearl Harbor, Godzilla, Cheaper by the Dozen, Daredevil, Meet the Parents, Home Alone 2 and the terrible sequels Batman and Robin and Batman Forever. I was also tempted to include Star Wars: Episode I, but re-watchability played a factor in my decision making and I would much rather watch Missa Jar-Jar Binks for two hours than any of these ten duds…
