I have no idea what the cartoon “Speed Racer” was about, but I am slowly having the blanks filled in for me as Variety has announced a slightly spoilerish description of Scott Porter‘s role in the feature film adaptation for the Wachowski brothers.
Porter has joined the cast of Speed Racer as Rex, the older brother to Speed Racer who fakes his death and returns as Racer X (Matthew Fox). (highlight to read)
Speed Racer is based on the classic series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida, the big-screen Speed Racer will follow the adventures of the young race car driver Speed in his quest for glory in his thundering Mach 5.
It is currently eyeing a May 9, 2008 release.
