One More Season of ‘Battlestar Galactica’

I haven’t grown into the major fan of Sci Fi’s “Battlestar Galactica” that a small group of fanatics and most critics have. Instead I find it entertaining, but often times a bit annoying and it looks like despite the small amount of praise the low-rated television show will only be around for one more season.

Variety is reporting that the fourth season will be the show’s final as rumors about the show’s fate have been swirling for months, and Sci Fi had to fight to get renewed for a fourth season.

The show’s inability to break out of its core group of viewers despite rave reviews and a rabid fanbase is sure to upset that very fanbase.

“This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end,” producers told Variety. “Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms.”

“Battlestar” will begin its fourth season with a two-hour episode in November. It will then return in early 2008 to finish out its 22-episode run.

However, if you want to grasp on to hope, there are rumors of a prequel story which would most likely tell the early story of the creation of the Cylons and the people of Caprica. It could be interesting, but I wouldn’t expect it to do any better than its predecessor.
