Anchor Bay Upfront: May 2007

Last month we missed the Anchor Bay DVD peeks, but this month we are back with a look at a couple of Masters of Horror titles: Right to Die and The Thirst… Here’s a peek and some links to buy if you are so inclined.

You see here we have a couple of drug addicts and they are ultimately recruited by what is described as a clan of sex and gore crazed vampires. The best part of this, and probably the best part of the Masters of Horror features, is that Jeremy Sisto leads this clan as the infamous Darius. With any other horror brand there is no chance of getting Sisto, not like he is a huge name, but he is a name. The film also features someone Serenity fans will remember Adam Baldwin.

The flick is 88 minutes long and the DVD includes an audio commentary with writer/producer Mark Altman and composer Joe Kraemer, a making of documentary, a favorite vampire movies feature, deleted scenes, a DVD-ROM script and some photos and production sketches. You can pick up a copy for yourself here.

The whole plot plays out with Cliff (Donovan) driving home with his wife one night (a wife he cheats on by the way) and they end up in a fiery car crash that doesn’t harm Cliff at all, but leaves Abby (his wife) as a torched up mess. However, Abby doesn’t die, but she is chillin’ in the burn center and Cliff wants to end her suffering and seeks a court order to do so. Here’s the catch, everytime poor Abby flatlines her spirit goes after those who stand to gain from her death… not exactly a spirit I want pissed at me yah know?

The disc contains a making-of feature and an audio commentary with director Rob Schmidt who also directed Wrong Turn back in 2003 as well as another upcoming Eliza Dushku starrer The Alphabet Killer. Other features include the script and a photo gallery. The feature is only 57 minutes long, and will run yah about $12.99 at Amazon. You can pick up a copy for yourself here.
