Hey there horror fans and folks over at Lionsgate if you head over to Santee Alley in L.A. you will find a gentleman selling bootleg copies of Hostel: Part II as the DVD appears to be already out on the streets prior to its June 8th release.
A writer for MovieWeb is reporting the news and it isn’t like this is a new phenomenon, it is just the first time I can remember someone writing about it on our little ring of movie news sites and I thought it was interesting.
The writer goes on to say that he ran across a man in the middle of the street selling a pile of Hostel: Part II DVDs and he picked up a copy for five dollars. He goes on to describe the copy as flawless studio quality and that the words “AK-Bigel Entertainment Property of Screen Gems” can be found on the lower portion of the video.
How this will affect Hostel II‘s box-office take has to be minimal since I have to assume, like I said earlier, that this happens with just about every movie that gets released; we just don’t hear about it.
I think it is unfortunate that it happens, and I don’t know how to stop it since bootlegs have been around since the beginning of time and it is only going to get easier with the advancements in technology.
