Possible Terminator Trilogy Starting in 2009?

I know that one of these days a Terminator 4 will actually get made, but I won’t be sold on the news that one is getting made until cameras actually begin rolling so I take this news with a grain of salt.

The real news her is that the fourth film in the Terminator sequel has found its rights moved on over to newly formed The Halcyon Company, a privately funded company hatched recently by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson. The new company now has the rights to produce Terminator films, create merchandise and licensing ventures as well as rights to the upcoming television series based on the franchise “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and any future C3 revenues that will come in from Terminator 3.

The kicker for this new Terminator flick is that it is actually being looked at as a brand new trilogy of films. When we last left John Connor he was underground and the machine war had gotten started, the T4 script, which has been kept under tight wraps, picks up when Connor in his 30s, and leading what’s left of the human race against the machines, sources said. It is unclear whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will return even for a cameo, as the film is likely to go into production while he is still in the Governor’s Mansion.

Word is that Halcyon is looking at the summer of 2009 to release the film, but as of now there is no director or cast so who knows.

“With T3, we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Connor and the Terminators,” Moritz Borman, the former CEO of Intermedia Films and exec producer of T3 said. “This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3.”
