Tim Roth To Battle ‘The Incredible Hulk’

I’m not sure I like the director or the writer for this gig, but I sure am liking the casting for The Incredible Hulk. Variety just broke the news this morning that Tim Roth is in negotiations to play Hulk rival Abomination in the sequel to the Ang Lee failure.

I still kind of feel it’s too soon to reinvent the Hulk franchise but the idea that Tim Roth and Edward Norton – two highly admired and respected actors – are going to go head-to-head is intriguing. Then again, I’m not sure how much actual face-to-face they’d actually be doing given their CGI counterparts. From the Variety article:

Blonsky is a KGB agent who deliberately exposes himself to the gamma rays that caused Bruce Banner to morph into the Hulk. Blonsky has upped the dosage, making him larger and stronger than the Hulk, but unable to change back to human form. He blames Banner for his problem, and makes his best efforts to destroy the Hulk.

I really want this movie to work. I love Hulk. I used to think I was the Incredible Hulk when I was a kid and my cat used to substitute as a car Hulk was supposed to smash against a building (the cat lived … they’re spry).

Hopefully this is a bit of a comeback for Roth who has been mostly M.I.A. (despite continuing to work). The Pulp Fiction actor will appear in a number of movies this year, including My Blueberry Nights with everyone’s favorite Natalie.
