Craziness and Scoops with Latin Flare!

LatinoReview has gone ahead and posted three rather interesting casting pieces for three films I am sure onliners and fans of movies alike will be interested in learning about.

First off they report that both Jessica Alba and Keira Knightley have passed on the opportunity to play Chun Li in the 20th Century Fox film adaptation of the one-time popular videogame franchise “Street Fighter,” but LR reports that Jessica Biel may be taking the role. Personally I think Alba and Knightley have the right idea and last I checked Biel wasn’t Asian so how she can take on the role of Chun Li and make it authentic is beyond me.

Their next casting scoop says that director Robert Rodriguez won’t be making Sin City 2 his next venture despite the latest word that he already has a teaser for the flick. Nope, LR says that he will be taking on the family feature The Jetsons based on the also “one-time” popular cartoon feature.

Finally, and this is the one bit that seems the most likely to happen out of the three, Bill Nye, Tom Wilkinson, Kenneth Branagh, Stephen Fry and Patrick Wilson are in discussions for Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie. This is the untitled feature about World War II Singer is directing with Tom Cruise attached to star.

Now to the craziness.

It may seem odd to some that LatinoReview went ahead and published these rather interesting scoops all in one article, but I think a lot of it has to do with a bit of frustration they have been experiencing with studios along with one of their closest friends in the online movie biz, IESB.net, which was recently shut down (yeah, shut down), by Paramount Pictures for the video they had from the Iron Man set.

LatinoReview reported on the situation yesterday and also expressed their own frustrations with Paramount when they first scooped word that Shia LaBeouf would be joining Indiana Jones IV. Thus why I think they went ahead with these scoops.

At the time I posted this article IESB was still down and I am not exactly sure how long it has actually been down. However, the aptly named movie blogging site TheMovieBlog apparently suffered the same wrath of Paramount in the past thanks to an image from Transformers and they have posted a nasty (yet understandable) little article in relation to IESB’s unfortunate circumstance.

Personally it seems very odd that a studio would, or for that matter could, have a site completely shut down. I guess in this case I am lucky RopeofSilicon is more of an editorial site rather than a scoop site. It is unfortunate that something like this has to happen, because I happen to know that IESB is an actual business and by having the site completely offline it hurts the owners financially and that is just not right and I hope for their sake the problem is rectified soon. Be sure to give them a visit and keep visiting until they are up again. Without their scoops all we would be doing would be listening to me complain all the time. While that is fun, no one needs that all the time.

The Internet has certainly changed the way movies are reported on and LatinoReview has been at the forefront of casting scoops for a while and IESB has really crept up quick with a lot of video footage and scoops of their own. Ain’t It Cool News used to have a monopoly on scoopage, but with more sources out there it seems some studios aren’t quite ready for the mayhem that will ensue.
