Apted Taking on ‘Narnia 3’?

Over a year before The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hits theaters on May 16, 2008 we are already getting rumors on the third film in the Narnia franchise, which, in my world, is stupid. However, I am sure some of you care about who might be directing a movie that probably won’t hit theaters until late 2009 or early 2010 so here we go.

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that the director who will be replacing Andrew Adamson, who directed the first two films, on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be Michael Apted. Apted has directed such Narnia fan favorites as Coal Miner’s Daughter, Nell and the “best” Bond of them all The World is Not Enough. Of course I am joking and don’t expect many Narnia fans to know jack about those first two films and TWINE was hardly even worthy of being called a Bond film.

So, here we sit, with a director that people most prominently know for his ___ Up series of documentaries, but the last time I checked Apted doesn’t have any real fantasy blockbusters on his resume. However, go chew on it, let it roll around in your head and let me know if you even care five minutes later.
