#1 movie predicted correctly: Zero in a row
I’m pretty much just doomed this weekend. Too many new releases and none are dominant. It will take a very low number to win and that’s just what I’m projecting. Any of the top three could come out on top, but after the Grindhouse debacle last weekend I’m going with my gut.
Estimate: $13.8 million
2. Disturbia
Shia is coming for you and he won’t be stopped. Like Perfect Stranger B-Luv is calling this a miss, man, these next few weeks are just brutal before summer starts.
Estimate: $12.6 million
The worst of both worlds, they don’t use the R rating to get Halle some naked time.
Estimate: $10.6 million
It’s sitting pretty at $52m overall; budget unknown. Couldn’t have cost much though, people are banging out animations on their macintosh computers these days.
Estimate: $10.3 million
5. Grindhouse
Ah, yes, now they are going to release them separately. Where was this bright idea last weekend? This project has been completely mangled on every level, The Weinstein Group should be ashamed of itself.
Estimate: $8.1 million
6. Pathfinder
They are advertising the living hell out of this – most likely to overcome the whole “not screened” factor. Bad news, it won’t help.
Estimate: $7.2 million
What about Cube as a romantic comedy lead? You telling me he couldn’t pull off a Jack Black style roll? Oh, I see. You are telling me that. Yeah, you’re probably right.
Estimate: $6.6 million
8. The Reaping
How has this made $7m internationally? Do people that don’t know English find value here? Guys, catch up, this movie isn’t tasty.
Estimate: $5.5 million
9. Redline
I have no idea here. Would you see this? It’s pretty much a direct rip-off of The Fast and the Furious but somehow with even less stars. Eddie Griffin? I mean, that guy has never been listed in the opening credits in his entire life.
Estimate: $5.4 million
10. 300
The last weekend for our little Spartan friend. It will make $200m next Tuesday or so which qualifies it as a “smash hit.” I hope they use that term on the DVD! Sorry no Laremy Lounge this week, I felt like 300 deserved better.
Estimate: $4.3 million
