Phillips Eyeing ‘The Chadster’

Todd Phillips‘ last directorial outing, School for Scoundrels, wasn’t exactly a duplication of the success he had with Old School and at this moment his upcoming slate is looking a bit bare with only the possibility of an Old School sequel in the works. However, there is word out of Variety that the director is set to produce and just might direct The Chadster for Warner Bros.

The story revolves around a best man who finds his position threatened when an eccentric, long-lost childhood friend shows up at the wedding, causing all sorts of trouble. Apparently Michael Samonek, who’s career shows nothing of note, is set to pen the script based on his original pitch.

Contrary to what I said above Variety does say that Phillips is getting ready to direct a film called Men for WB with production set to begin this fall. Word is that Allan Loeb penned the script based on a 1985 German film of the same name. This project was first announced back in May 2006. The story centers on a self-absorbed man who becomes the roommate of the person with whom his wife is having an affair.
