Box-Office Wrap-Up: Feb. 23 – Feb. 25

Oooh, I nailed this to a wall this week. High drop off, poor word of mouth, I was in tune. It’s almost like I get paid to do this.

Result: $19.7 million (My rank: #1, $.9m off)

Another beauty prediction. This is shaping up to be the best Oracle ever.

Result: $15.1 million (My rank: #2, $.4m off)

Aaaah, I was so close to the Bingo! Man, I want a frickin’ raise. I want Dre money!

Result: $13.5 million (My rank: #3, $.1m off)

It was what we thought it was. A little over a million folks interested, and no one else. Look for a nasty downturn next week too, the real fans made it opening weekend.

Result: $10.4 million (My rank: #4, $.6m off)

Of course it’s Norbit that screws me, of course. This movie is my nemesis. I can’t wait until it’s a footnote on Murhpy’s flawed career.

Result: $9.7 million (My rank: #7, $2.0m off)

Another $.1m off from the Bingo. This is getting strange. I really am owed something after these close calls. Maybe a Pina Colada.

The other movie I hate messes with The Oracle. I guess I’m not good at predicting movies I hate. Either that or I’m not good at predicting and there are tons of movies I hate.

Result: $6.1 million (My rank: #9, $1.2m off)

How did I possibly overrate this? That spells anger. Tyler Perry clearly has big fans in week one and then people who accidentally buy a ticket and wander in during week two.

Result: $5.2 million (My rank: #8, $1.4m off)

Not a good result, not good at all. Actually, it’s a disaster. A giant disaster. An epic disaster. For over 2000 theaters this could turn out to be the nastiest result of the year. Unlucky. Sorry guys.

It wasn’t in enough theaters and I skipped the screening. Thus it was not top of mind. So I say phooey on this movie, phooey all over it. Now let’s get to the Oscars! The live diary will be right here baby!! Click and enjoy.
