Videogames are the New Books!

Here is an interesting little story as Variety tells us that Lionsgate has snatched up the feature film rights to the Eidos Interactive vidgame “Kane & Lynch.” The interesting part of the story is not that Lionsgate has picked up the rights, it is that the vid hasn’t even been released yet.

Traditionally this is something that happens with books, but this is the first time I can think of that it has happened with a videogame.

The game is about a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath forced together on a violent and chaotic path seeking redemption and revenge. No means are too harsh as the volatile partnership is pushed beyond reason in this brutally realistic, character-driven third person action shooter from IO Interactive, the creators of Hitman, which is also being made into a feature film at 20th Century Fox with Timothy Olyphant set for the lead role and a release date of October 12, 2007 already set.

The article doesn’t say when the game is hitting the streets, but a quick trip to the game’s official site offers up a trailer and it looks like the game will be available on XBOX, XBOX360 and PC.
