Spade and Rock Teaming for Comedy

Columbia Pictures is ready to team with David Spade and Chris Rock on a currently untitled comedy which Spade will write with Fred Wolf. Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison will produce the picture, which will most likely be a watered down PG-13 feature so everyone can watch. Oh boy!

Apparently the super cool comedy is about a turf battle between three families who vie for the same camping spot in a public park over a weekend. The last time this watered down slop was released it was called Cheaper by the Dozen 2. Spade and Wolf previously wrote the mega-blockbusters Joe Dirt and Dickie Roberts which both received 50 Oscar nominations and have gone down as two of the greatest comedies of all time.

However, Chris Rock might have abandoned those PG-13 ways as his upcoming feature I Think I Love My Wife for Fox Searchlight is rated R for pervasive language and some sexual content. Now I am not saying comedies have to be rated R to be funny, but comedians such as Chris Rock, Bernie Mac and Cedric the Entertainer are so much funnier when they are uninhibited and don’t have to watch what they say. Maybe that is just me, however, it looks like Eddie Murphy is proving my point with the disaster I have heard Norbit is, you couldn’t pay me to watch that…

…okay, maybe you could, but it would have to be a lot.
