Yesterday we reported that Brendan Fraser would star in Inkheart for New Line Cinema and director Iain Softley. Today we bring news out of Variety that Paul Bettany has also joined the cast of the family fantasy.
Inkheart is an adaptation of the New York Times Children’s Chapter bestseller written by German author Cornelia Funke and is being eyed as a trilogy providing the initial installment performs well. The story revolves around a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud.
When a villainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children’s fable kidnap the man, his daughter and her friends, both real and imaginary, must rescue him.
The follow up novels are titled “Inkspell” and “Inkdawn”, the latter of which is due in bookstores next year.
